Today, I took a shower and right after I fell asleep on my bed wrapped in my towel. I awoke to find my dad slapping me in the face. He thought I had fainted because I'm a diabetic. FML

sounds like your dad has some kinda sick s&m fetish FYL oh wait, he just cared enough to check on you. grow up op and be thankful he cared enough to check on you.

lol Sorry to laugh, but it's kind of funny. I'm diabetic, too, and I get that a lot since I have diabetic seizures. It can be a bit annoying when you're dying for a nap, but it's funny when you tell the story. Next time, put up a sign that says, "My bloodsugar is ____. Do not disturb."

Okay, being slapped aside, your father was just trying to help you. It might have been embarrassing but in the end its a funny story you will be able to tell people and laugh about. I am sure he didn't do any irreversible damage because you are on here, but yea while it sucks you should be glad your father knows about your condition and takes it seriously. A lot of fml (real fml) on here have people fainting on streets and no one caring. Be glad you are okay and hadn't fainted due to your illness.

I HATE it when someone comes on FML with such garbage like this. Are Americans conditioned to make a negative situation out of a completely positive one? No wonder so many of you are on antidepressants. YDI for not caring that you have a Dad who actually cares about you. I do too, and it's the greatest thing in the world. This is not an FML, this is just someone trying to make their life suck to get sympathy. Go be depressed, and stop wasting your time on here.

Wow, you're clearly a very angry person. No need to drag those people with legitimate mental disorders into this. Depression is a real and serious condition, and you are really and seriously an asshole.

I agree. I have depression and work hard to stay possitive. I don't want pity or sympathy. I don't want to be depressed. You make it sound like (all depressed people) want to be depressed. I think, in my case, I would like to spend my time being happy.

Based on my experience with Type 1 diabetic loved ones, I tend to think there's a bit of a YDI factor here. Unless your dad is rather ignorant and overdramatic, you've probably given him reason to worry about you by neglecting your own health.

You don't have to neglect your own health to have diabetic seizures. I've been having them for a year and a half now, and they just started out of nowhere. My bloodsugars have been completely stable (minus the lows that cause the seizures) for the last 12 years. Sometimes shit just happens.

op could also have been recently diagnosed, explaining dad's overreaction. or she could be an only child, in which case, same thing.

77, people like this are why I hate that I live in America...
