YDI for being a selfish ingrate. Period. Grab some of that lac-taid like #333 said. Seriously. Really??
lac-taid is not a pill that relieves symptoms of lactose-intolerance. Lac-taid is a soy-based milk substitute. The issue here is that the cake is made with real milk, as is fudge filling. There are individuals that are so highly allergic they can go into anaphylactic shock and die within minutes. A glass of soy milk isn't going to help the OP one bit.
When you're born you can handle lactose so you can drink your mother's milk, but in some people the body simply stops producing the necessary enzymes to break the stuff down as you get older.
crap... darn comment bugs, that should have been a reply to 89.
I feel bad, sort of. I'm lactose intolerant, if your not allergic to milk, then you can have small bits of dairy, like cake. I'm sorry if it's worse for you, but for most people it might make you sick, but you should be willing to deal with that if you supposedly love the cake so much. I don't know the situation though. If you have really bad reactions (EXTREME sick, headaches, continuous vomitting or rashes) from drinking milk or eating anything with dairy, then you're not lactose intolerant, your allergic to dairy. Also, this isn't an fml because your family made an honest error, they were trying to do something nice for you, and the fact that your mom sat there the whole time handing you tissues proves that she really cares. And as far as the cake goes, what were they going to do? Throw it out?
so am i, screw lactose intolerability
your stupid, they make pills that temporarily remove the effects of that, and usually you only get diarea, it would be worth it
ya they all just ate ur "happy" ... but i bet they posted about, or would post about, this too

OP discovered a cake that they fell madly in love with 8 or more years ago. 8 years ago, they could no longer have this cake or anything else containing dairy products. Today is their 18th birthday. Their family made OP the previously mentioned cake that OP has not been able to eat for 8 years and still cannot eat. OP cried because they can't eat this delicious birthday cake and evidently, their family doesn't know her very well. OP's mom ate a piece of the cake which had a smiley face or something on it. Do you get it now? It's not that hard to understand...
Dude, who cares about the aftermath, eat it anyway.
