Today, I was hit by a truck while walking to school. It was the driver's fault as I was in a crosswalk. My parents met me at the hospital where I had minor injuries. They began discussing what the insurance money would be spent on. They decided on a second honeymoon to Las Vegas. FML

You know, even if you're a minor (guessing here), you CAN sue your parents if they use the money for anything that isn't used DIRECTLY for your own well-being.

Hey, that's their right. Any insurance money they get is rightfully theirs since they pay for the policy. And it's not like you need them to spend it on surgery or something. I don't think the parents are being selfish. They're spending their money on themselves. You spend your money on yourself, right? PS, just because you're in a crosswalk doesn't mean you shouldn't look both ways. For future reference. :P

That sucks. When my mom younger, she got hit by a car. Her parents used the insurance or settlement money to help her pay for college.

I agree with what happened for #32's mom Ask your parents kindly to put the money towards your college payments, since you're the one who got hit, even if it is their insurance policy, it's only fair that it goes to benefit you in some way, and it saves them worry later on - college can be very expensive!
