Today, I was installing updates on my 16 year old daughter's laptop, when I got the urge to snoop around. I found a 5,000 word sex story involving her and the Edward and Jacob weirdos from the Twilight movies. I can't even look her in the eyes. I can't believe I raised this freak. FML

Parents crack me up because they act like they weren't sexually awkward when growing up or exploring their sexuality. At least it was fictional and not a recount of an actual orgy she had. Glad you're not my parent.

Well this shows great parenting skills ... there is no need to call your daughter a freak even if you aren't comfortable with what she did. The fact is Twilight is popular with teenage girls, even though it's an awful book series. Also, around 16, teenage girls, like teenage boys, are going through puberty, discovering their sexuality, and to put it bluntly, many are horny. That's pretty normal. Also, while fan fiction is definitely not for everyone, many people enjoy it, and liking it and even writing it doesn't make your daughter a freak. The fact that it was about sex (particularly with self insertion) is uncomfortable, especial as OP is the daughters father (or mother, does it say gender of the OP?). However, its believed that as there is more of a stigma against woman looking at ****, many woman turn to fanfiction instead for their sexual fantasies, your daughter is, again, not really a freak in this case. It is uncomfortable, especially as she wrote it out herself, but really not much different than a parent finding their child's **** collection. Many people have strange sexual fantasies that they probably don't feel comfortable sharing with anyone, and definitely not their parents. I'm sure that your daughter would be mortified if she realized that you read it and isn't the way most parents deal with these things to either have the talk with their children or just go on pretending that they never saw/found/realized anything? As for the necrophiliac comments, well vampire's are always since their conception shown to be a symbol for seduction (or rape, but either way they're associated with sex), so her being sexually attracted to something that as a whole, is supposed to be seductive, isn't that weird. For the ********** comments, I doubt (or at least I hope she didn't) she had Jacob as a wolf in the fanfiction, and Taylor Lutner is marketed as a sex symbol for young girls. I wouldn't want to read this fanfiction either, or any like it, and I can definitely understand the OP being upset about this, as I imagine finding out about a child's sexual fantasies would be disturbing to a parent, but this doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with the daughter and there is no need to embarrass her over it.

I'd give you a thumbs up but you're comment is too long for me to do so on my iPod. Fanfiction is a fairly normal way for girls that age to explore their sexuality, and even if OP doesn't like it he or she shouldn't be judging. I'm sure they've done some things that would freak their parents out, too.

Are you calling her a freak because it's sex or because it's about twilight? Because honestly shes probably got raging hormones she's a teenager that's gonna happen but the twilight thing is just...welll the Edward thing lol Jacob is hot

LOL at everyone on here, OP included, freaking out about teenage girls writing self-insert fanfiction. Um. Hello. THOUSANDS of girls do that. How is fantasizing about boys not a normal part of growing up? I suppose you'd rather she be out doing drugs and sleeping around? You do yourself no favors by being a nosy, privacy-invading asshole. I feel sorry for your kid. Also, for the record: fanfiction bashers? Please feel free to STFU. It's no more of a strange hobby than waterskiing or crocheting or reading FMLs. You might be surprised how many professional authors actually started out writing fanfiction--or still write fanfiction even after they've been published.

...Kinky? Nah. Would you still be upset if it was about... Edward Scissorhands? I personally wouldn't mind. Unless my knives, scissors, etc. started to turn up missing...

So your daughter is having a perfectly normal and age-appropriate kind of infatuation shared with millions of others, she's literate and creative enough to express that in written form, and . . . what's the problem? I can't help but wonder what she'd find if she looked on her dad's computer. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it turned out to be something far more problematic than mere fanfic.

He's probably got ********** and tranny ****.

YOU are the freak because you decided to not respect her privacy and read her innermost thoughts. I don't think you do NOT have sexual thoughts you don't want to share. it's good nobody reads YOUR mind, isn't it. and if not, you're BORING.

ok im going to go against the majority of the comments, fyl man. i hate twilight, and a lot of people say that you should respect her privacy, well if she is giving you her password then she should expect something to be found. and as a parent you have every right to read her personal stuff. like i said if you are giving your parent a password to your personal computer then you are agreeing to let them see WHATEVER is on that computer including (and especially) a 5000 word sex story about her and the twilight fags. in other words gj. but srsly its not THAT bad, i have WAY worse stuff on my laptop.

YDI for looking at her personal stuff. We don't know OP's daughter gave OP the password, or maybe it doesn't even have one (some people don't protect their computers). Regardless, you shouldn't be looking at your daughter's stuff. And would this be as big a deal if the story was Harry Potter? Or Narnia? Or is it just because it's Twilight (which, by the way, is far superior to the aforementioned series)? Like someone else already said, your daughter is infatuated with characters that millions of other fans are infatuated with, all in her age group, and she's creative/educated enough to put it into words. You should be grateful.
