Today, I was installing updates on my 16 year old daughter's laptop, when I got the urge to snoop around. I found a 5,000 word sex story involving her and the Edward and Jacob weirdos from the Twilight movies. I can't even look her in the eyes. I can't believe I raised this freak. FML

Sound like normal behaviour for a 16 year old to me. So wake up and realise that as soon as kids hit puberty they will have sexual feelings which out in different ways just be glad she did not write about the dog and some peanut butter.

First of all.. the snooping is absolutely uncalled for. Secondly... You are such a douche for calling your daughter a freak.. it's not like she's out ******* sheep or something. What the hell do you expect anyway, she's a hormonal teenage girl.. I'm sure you were way worse when you were her age.

I agree with most of what you said. however, I do not beleive that financial dependency is the only way to deterrmine who has access to privacy and who doesn't. I don't beleive in the notion of parents owning their children simply because they had them. i firmly believe children are their own people. This does not mean lettign a two-year old play in traffic. What it means is you must loosen the reins as you go. As the child becomes a young adult (14,15,16...), they really need breathing room. I find OP's behavior deplorable and unwarranted (unless there are circumstances which caused him to distrust her). I also take offense to his attitude toward his child. What's with the judgement? Writing fanfics is not even CLOSE to the worst thing she could be doing. All people alive have hormones. Just because she happened to write her PRIVATE, PERSONAL fantasies down and he read them of his own brutish, dictatorial accord does not mean she is a bad person.
