Today, I was lecturing my high school students on the importance of a good education. I pointed out the janitor in the hall and told them if they didn't stay in school, they'd end up like him. Then one of my students raised her hand and reminded me that the janitor I pointed to was her dad. FML

Ydi. A lot of people end up with jobs like that because they can't get anything better and at least they have a job.

Serves you right, OP. Why would you even say that? At least he ha s a job, you're not better than him or anyone else who does "dirty work".

You are just freakin retarded. And I did use retarded correctly. I was a janitor. I am a vocational rehab counselor amongst other professions. There is nothing wrong with this profession. Currently I teach in the dept of education. I am glad my students wont make this mistake!

I completely agree. The janitor at my school is a GODSEND! She's there before any teacher and leaves after most of them to go to her OTHER job she works until 10 p.m. She is one of the most hardworking people I have EVER met. I extend a heartfelt thanks to you for doing a job that is so necessary, but so unappreciated.

Unless the janitor in question is Argus Filch, I doubt he deserved that.

Now if Argus Filches job opened up, I'd be applying ASAP!

Argus Filch quit his job ages ago. Now he's Walder Frey. With that in mind, I think if the janitor was Filch, op should have killed him to save the King in the North.

The world needs janitors too. I know plenty of people with a college/university degree working in fast food. Maybe you should take your head outta your ass, op, and realize that a person can make all the right choices in life and still not end up where they wanted to be.

400,000 janitors have a bachelor's degree or higher. Education does not equal a high paying job. OP is an asshat.

I remember reading an FML with the same content but from the perspektive of the student.

One of my friends is a janitor. He has a college degree in computers and electronics. Yet with the economy he can't find anyone that will hire a new person do he took that job to pay the bills. So YDI.

your a piece of crap. How dare you judge somebody. At least he has a job. I hope you burn in hell.

Isn't that a bit excessive? Hell is usually wished upon murderers, rapists, Republicans/Democrats(ho ho ha ha bipartisan tensions joke)...

i think it is completely fine to say that, after all those who judge shall be judged, OP very well may end up in hell . Probably not over this one little FML but think about it, they probably didn't think twice about posting this and thought they were just fine for that, with that additude, whose to say they haven't done worse than just blindly judging a janitor ?

Because he'll doesn't exist, perhaps?

I believe you should've used yourself as an example - an inconsiderate, assuming, judgemental ass. A lot more people fear becoming one of those, much less than a person who's actually working to make a living by any means possible, even as a janitor.

Ydi, being a janitor is not an indication that someone is uneducated. Sounds to me like you're rather uneducated in the subject of current events, such as the economy. For all you know, that guy could have had an office job and had gone to college, but was then laid off when things were really bad and ended up stuck with that job. My mom was laid off about 4 years ago, and even though things have gotten better, a lot of people ended up stuck in shitty positions because of how much they had to lower their standards. Janitorial positions are pretty stable, and that's the kinds of jobs people need right now. At least he's educated enough that he can get a job and doesn't care what it is. You on the other hand, are clearly way too judgmental if you're basing how educated someone is by the job they have during such an unstable time.

And this is the sort of quality work we can expect from the people in charge of educating the next generation? You need a career change immediately. Might I suggest janitorial work?

No it doesn't. Go sit in the corner.
