Today, I was walking through town when I saw a plastic bag on the ground. Trying to be a good citizen, I picked it up, intending on throwing it in the trash. When I looked up, there wasn't a trash can for another hundred feet. So I put it back down. Now I've got a $200 fine to pay for littering. FML

So walk the extra hundred feet. How is that a big deal?

a plastic bag doesn't weigh anything and it wouldn't have taken any extra effort to walk the 100 ft. your laziness disgusts me. you completely deserved it.

Well, no, I go out of my way to pick it up AND go through with it. :)

Are you that lazy not to walk an extra 100 feet? Wow.

I guess that plastic bag was too heavy for you to carry a few hundred feet, huh? YDI.

why aren't you lazy enough to not pick it up?

a la "Alice's Restaurant" lol... fined for littering...

A hundred feet? What? Thats nowhere. If the average step of a human is 2 and a half feet, then that would have taken you 40 steps. YDI

The bags a trap....placed there so people just like you will help fill a policpersons ticket quota.

If it wasn't for the fine, I'd say YDI too. But seriously 200 dollars for a trash bag that someone else littered? And there are endless reasons as to why that garbage can wouldn't have worked for him. If he was on his way to catch a bus and the bus stop was closer than the can, the can was in the opposite direction and he had somewhere to be. there are more indeed, but come on, it wasn't even his garbage. Also, were you in residential? you could have just used someone else's trash bin.
