Just a heads up, the coldstone in tampa on Channelside plaza, i used to work there. It was a group interview where we all basically had to compete against one another to create the best coldstone song based off of another song. Mine was a little diddy about Jack and Diane changed into a Little diddy about Livin' it up. We sang out of enjoyment, im a guy and hell thats one of the funnest parts. As said above it lets you get loose and just have fun. If your too uptight to relax and enjoy people or sing, then you do not deserve to work at coldstone. This is not an FML this is a YDI, its one of the more fun parts of the jobs, i strongly advocate you quitting if you can't handle the customers joke about him taking back his tip. We get it all the time especially in such a touristy area. Rarely are they serious.
Sound like ColdStone has an asinine and annoying policy. When I go to an ice cream shop, I want to enjoy my ice cream, not humiliate some poor sod. If I want to hear people singing, I'll go to a karaoke bar, where the pain is mutually consensual. If the customer says "Oh no, you don't have to sing," will you still get in trouble if you don't sing?
He's rude. But hey it was a break on your part :].
Did you block out the $20 tip part?
At least he wasn't an asshole and put a penny in the tip jar every five minutes, I've done that before lol

Not a FML. You got a $20 tip. Did you actually WANT to have to sing more?
I don't expect my local Coldstone workers to have Grammy-worthy talent. I expect them to sound like people who work for $6.75 an hour or whatever and are required by their part time job to sing to customers. I don't even like that rule, I think its awkward and kind of humiliating.
