Most likely it was a small one that crawled on OP while they weren't looking and crawled across the skin too quickly for OP's reflexes to swat it off. Or OP walked into a web with a spider on it and the spider hid in the cave (nose). As for the sleep theory, it's possible, but not probable. Most people make too much noise for a spider. I mean, if the spider was deaf and blind, it COULD work.
