Today, I went to the gym to try to get into shape. While I was running on the treadmill, my beer belly pushed against the emergency stop button, twice. FML

Today, I joined a gym. I’m overweight and not very athletic, so I was nervous. I looked around and tried a treadmill. I start walking at a chill pace, then got ambitious and cranked it to a "light jog." Within seconds, I tripped, fell, and sent the emergency stop button flying across the room. The gym staff ran over and I swear someone said, “Well, at least he’s trying.” FML

One time I went to the gym. I heard the sound of clapping and got so excited. Turns out it was just my thighs.

At least your trying and that's what counts. Don't listen to all the negativity.

try walking on the treadmill as a warm up and down and then a bike or an elliptical. Or if you do want to run on the treadmill keep your posture up, keep the speed at a good point, don't start it too fast, don't hold the handle bars, and look straight ahead. Good luck on your weight loss!

maybe you're too fast? speed that treadmill up

Atleast you're making an effort to exercise and lose that weighht! Unlike the countless other FML's where people complain about being fat

Don't let that stop you. Hard work, pays off.

Maybe an stair step will be more your forté...keep it up OP

You took the first step and that's always the hardest step.

I just hope you got a health check up first. Please get your doctor's advice, especially for heavy cardio like running. I'd hate to think you were headed for a heart attack. Please just WALK that treadmill until you get the okay.

Agreed, If OP is really obese, he should get checked first. And then, just take it slow :3 a daily stroll is enough to keep you fit. Btw OP dont worry about the emergency button - I've pressed it numerous times with my abdomen, even though i'm quite slim. I just like running close to the front of the treadmill :3

I will also agree. There's pushing yourself and then there's dangerous

Good job on going to the gym and making time for your health :)
