Today, in the early hours of the morning, I woke up in sleep paralysis, hallucinating the sight of children hanging from the ceiling. Now I'm scared to sleep. FML

I had them all the time when I was five. I saw a black octopus dragging itself towards my bed every night. They went away by themselves eventually, hopefully they will do the same for you.

This has only happened to me once before. I wasn't able to move or speak and then like on the corner of my room standing next to my door was a shadow that wasn't supposed to be there. I was trying to scream and to move but I just couldn't and when I finally could the shadow was gone.

i get sleep paralysis too, bit mine aren't terrifying, theyre like that but always give me a strange sense of peace. dont be afraid op, it can be exciting if you embrace it!

whatever you do if you suffer sleep paralysis often don't drink or eat apple related products something to them make dreams and in this kind of situation hallucinations far more vivid. I however haven't suffered sleep paralysis but love having apple stuff before bed it's like an adventure every night

Sleep paralysis is a scary thing. I've never been threw it but I know people who have

The amount of help coming OP's way is amazing! I've never dealt with this but I've heard aweful things

I've never experienced sleep paralysis (And hope I never do) but is it possible to close your eyes until you can move again? I'm sorry that happened OP, sounds absolutely terrifying and I hope you don't have anymore experiences like this!

Nope. You're totally paralyzed. You can breathe and that's about it... Usually focusing really hard on moving a toe or finger can help.

Actually you can close your eyes, or just not open them once you understand you are in a sleep paralysis and try to move your toes and fingers. That's what I did and it worked.

You can too.... Lol. The eyes are one of the few things you CAN control when in sleep paralysis.

Nope, can't control my eyes/eyelids when I get it, which is +/- 5 times a week

I've never personally experienced sleep paralysis, but now after reading all the comments about similar experiences I'm terrified to go to sleep.

Sleep paralysis is sometimes cool, but it can be scary as shit. I once dreamt there was a psycho killer dude in my house and couldn't do anything since I was in sleep paralysis. Scary. As. Shit.

some tips I use when this happens to me: don't open your eyes. also, try to wiggle your fingers and toes to wake up. remember, you are in control. Hope this helps!

My last experience with sleep paralysis was to eyes being everywhere on my walls, barb wire spreading like vine out of my closet and bathroom doorways, rotted barb wire perforated bodies falling out of my bathroom, and a grossly mishapen monster lurching out of my closet with a bloody butcher knife. Needless to say, it was not a pleasant experience.
