What a little brat. I remember the days where we didn't say stuff like that to authority figures. But keep in mind OP, the kid might have issues or have a disorder like ADHD, Conduct Disorder, ODD etc. I would just call the parents and arrange a meeting. And talk to your boss.

First, you need to go to the Principle, not the parents. There's probably a reason he specifically said he'd tell his dad, & u have no idea what his parents are like. You especially need to talk to the Principle before you record anything, whether it's audio or especially video. But you absolutely need to make the first move, b/c if the little shit says something first he could very easily ruin not only your career, but your entire life. Don't take the risk of sitting back & waiting to see if he really does it. If he's got the idea in his head & voiced it to u, then it's already gone way too far. Remind yourself that YOU are the adult & he is only a child. You're a teacher, so it's your job to teach, right? Start w/ a lesson on what happens when you threaten people & make up lies.
