Today, it was my girlfriend's birthday, so I decided to take her to a fancy restaurant and give her an expensive $400 necklace that I had bought. Being traditional, I asked the waiter to arrange it nicely on the tray when he came with our dessert. Neither he nor the necklace ever showed up. FML

Damn, hopefully the restaurant had security cameras.

Some people are dicks. He was one of those people.

Talk to the manager and ask him to look at the cameras?

First, I'm sorry this happened to you OP. Second, I would have gone to the police right away and find the SOB that took the necklace.

Traditionally, fancy birthday necklaces are presented in a box, wrapped, possibly with ribbon. Only engagement rings are served with dessert. Of course in this case, lucky you didn't give the waiter one of those.

Wait staff get paid $3 an hour (plus tips). And you trusted him with a $400 piece of jewelry? He was at the closest pawn shop before the salad plates were off the table.

Yeah that's something you should go to the manager to ask, he would most likely make sure it would get to the table.

What's really stupid is for someone to lose a job that will pay them that 400 and continue paying them in order to steal from a hardworking person. Hopefully they will catch him quickly

Damn sorry OP! I hope you do get it back!
