Today, it was my girlfriend's birthday, so I decided to take her to a fancy restaurant and give her an expensive $400 necklace that I had bought. Being traditional, I asked the waiter to arrange it nicely on the tray when he came with our dessert. Neither he nor the necklace ever showed up. FML

Damn, hopefully the restaurant had security cameras.

Some people are dicks. He was one of those people.

Yeah, that sucks, but you should know better than to trust anybody you don't personally know with something like that.

I thought it said $40 and was like, "Oof, tough blow..." But then I saw it was $400 and I squeaked uncomfortably.

What a prick. I feel your pain man.

Hope you called the cops. If he was an employee I'm sure they can track him down. It's sad he felt that necklace was worth stealing and risking arrest for $400. Must really need that coco.

You could easily catch him by going to the police, and the restaurant. And he'll get locked away for a long time

I am so sorry OP ;( I hope they catch him and if they don't, I'm sure she will still appreciate it.

$400 dollars on jewelry is subjective in the expensive category brother. Hate to break it to you

True, it's not expensive, but the OP didn't deserve to have the jewelry taken, $400 or $40.

Aw shit, waiter didn't happen to be wearing a name badge did they? That could always help a bit more so there's no one that looks similar to them or serving the same area as them getting into trouble. So crappy of that waiter, hope karma comes and bites them in the ass!
