OP, if you've ever read FML before, you should know that surprise proposals with no discussion of marriage beforehand don't work out too well. Yes, she should have stuck around to tell you "no" to your face, but can you be totally surprised at her reaction if you didn't have a good idea what it was going to be? YDI.
Maybe she wanted a traditional get on one knee will you marry me proposal?
Well, maybe he should have waited until he got off work to propose, but that doesn't mean he deserves this. He made an effort, and if you truly love somebody, that effort should freaking count. Plus, it's not like she had to make a decision spur of the moment and flubbed it. She had all day to figure out the best, gentlest way to do this. If someone tells you they want to spend their life with you, swiftly fleeing is considered poor manners.
That's cold. What a bitch!
Bitches. I tell ya.
I proposed to my husband. I think it was horrible for her to leave you like that. I wonder though, what set her off? It couldn't have just been the ring, this might have been the straw that broke the camel's back. Or maybe you wanted something she didn't and rather then discuss it she left, in the hopes of making it easier? Hopefully this leads you to the person you were meant to be with.

Oh my god, please accept my sincerest condolences. I hope you find a real keeper.
Next time take the day off and propose in person?....
