My dad was definitely more worried about me than my brother, only because he didn't think my brother would face the same kinds of pressures as I would and face potentially hostile situations. Once it got down to it, he knew I was capable of taking care of myself and knew I would do what I needed to protect myself. He didn't shame or congratulate either one of us, he said sex was just something people take part in.
