Today, my daughter had just left for a date with her boyfriend. All of a sudden, she runs back in the house screaming "I forgot to take my birth control!" That is not something a father wants to hear. FML

Something to keep in mind: Not all girls who take birth control are having sex. Even girls who have boyfriends and are taking BC aren't necessarily having sex. However, it's also really important for girls to take their birth control /every day/ at a specific time, otherwise it really messes up her body. For all anyone knows, she suddenly realized she hadn't taken it that day, and panicked. ... or maybe she's having sex with her boyfriend.

My girlfriend has been taking birth control for almost a decade (we're both 20 years old). In her case, it had nothing to do with sexual activity, because I was (and still am) her first lover. She has needed to take birth control because her periods are very painful, so her GYN recommended that she start to regulate how much estrogen her body was cranking out. It works. Of course, she's taking it for other reasons, now, but it does not HAVE to be because of sex. Granted, the timing was pretty awful.

I understand how you must feel. I hate what teenagers are doing these days. To the people who says its none of his business think again. Shes living under his roof and hes paying for her so if its none of his business she can move out then it wont be.

freakoffer hit the nail on the head. many STDs, such as genital warts, are caused simply by genital contact, not by sex. condoms do not protect you from that.

I don't think the dad would have a problem if she yelled that and they were married. but cmon. don't bash the dad for being a parent. I hope all your kids come home from many days of sex (with your acceptance) and then die from aids (: lesson learned!!

I agree with #244. I started taking it because my period was not regular and caused me a lot of pain. So, either your daughter uses it for her period or she is being responsible and trying to avoid getting pregnant ... i guess that's not so bad. I imagine it's not easy for a father to hear it, but if you are worried about it talk to her.
