Today, my dog managed to pull a one-pound package of raw bacon out and eat the entire package including the cardboard. The vets cheered when they finally got him to puke up the entire, unchewed package of bacon. FML

I guess you could say.... Tensions were getting raw......

Fmessiah, I don't care that you've insulted Americans, but you MAY NOT insult bacon. I'm afraid I must challenge you to a duel. To the death.

At least You got the bacon bacon back.

Lovely. Dogs are such wonderful pets. I had a lab that ate (not at once, but over time) the following: An entire large bucket of KFC, an entire pot roast, all the meatloaf, a large loaf of bread, a pound of bread dough I was letting rise a bit, the cat litter, and some unidentified dead thing discovered in the yard. It happens when you have a dog.

o.O You'd think after the first time you'd learn your lesson. I had a dog once who hopped up on the counter and ate all the steak and onions we had made for supper while we weren't looking. After that, food was never left in paws reach...

Some dogs are pretty crafty. I have a friend who only has two safe places for food, the microwave and the refrigerator, as her dogs figured out how to get to everything else. I had to get a heavy metal trashcan with a lid and line the bottom with bricks so its harder to knock over. I've also had to put child safety locks on all my cabinets since my dogs figured out how to open them. It's cut down on the problem, but every once in a while they can still get into them. Smart dogs make life interesting. :)
