Today, my girlfriend of 8 months and I broke up. We decided to give back everything we ever bought for each other. I gave her the stuff she bought me and when I asked for my stuff she said she'd sold it and spent the money on herself. FML

Who returns gifts? That's awful. Things you buy for each other are gifts, and shouldn't be returned when a relationship ends...

haha I was just posting the same thing at the same time

who gives back gifts anyway, it's a GIFT, it's GIVEN to you, so you can keep it.

Why would she agree to give back the gifts if she already knew that she had already sold them? Sounds like you demanded that you both return each other's gifts.

or maybe they did agree and she's just an asshole

I agree with #23, why would you return *gifts*?? Hey man, YDI. You bought it for her, she can do what she likes with it. Not saying that's not a slack move, but she doesn't owe you anything for it. You would have been within your rights to sell the things she bought you, too. FYL for being dumb enough to give back presents o_0

wow, she's a selfish bitch take the stuff u gave her back and make a run for it

A gift is a gift and shouldn't be returned unless it's an engagement ring. Looks like she set you up. Good thing you didn't marry the bitch.

An engagement ring shouldn't be returned either, the idea is that If the relationship fails the Lady has compensation for the time she could have spent looking for a new mate, a bit old fashioned I agree, but I like tradition

An engagement ring is a conditional gift. It should be returned if the marriage doesn't go ahead.

I agree with jonny2X4...a gift is a gift. You were only dating 8 months. Ease up on the gifts there. Wait until you've been toghter for awhile before you pile on the presents.
