Today, my mom let it slip that she was divorcing my dad. After making me promise to keep it from him and my little sisters, she had me help her with her plans to renovate the house. She intends to kick him out once it's done. FML

Today, it's been a little while since I found out that my parents are getting a divorce. They'd been married for 25 years and my father got bored and lost feelings. My mother is crying and howling on the bathroom floor right now. It has happened before, but since it was in our upstairs bathroom, I could open the door with a knife. FML

Today, my mom and dad got into a fight, during which my dad said to my mom that her health conditions were of her own doing. Because of that, I got pissed and had a fight with my dad, taking my mom's side. Turns out, my mom took his side and ratted me out. FML

Wow. That seriously bites. No offense, but your mom's rather cruel to surprise you with that kind of stressful news and then pile forced secrecy on top of it. To make you help her plan ahead for what's to come after the divorce is just overkill, and it's tortorous to you, because it keeps the impending advent of the divorce fresh on your mind. I bet you're feeling pretty depressed. Poor you. :( Good thing you decided to vent it. It helps at least a little to get that kind of thing out. I'm so sorry for your suffering. I hope things get better soon.

Dear OP, Uhhh... you need to pull an Anakin here and defect to your father's camp, asap. Your mother is... err, selfish to be politically correct... not to mention modest, annnnnd you might want to consider living with the parental guardian who *doesn't* command you to lie and conceal something that will definitely devastate someone they're supposed to love. Yeah. You might want to blow this one up in her face. Obvious details and personal-relationship-parameters notwithstanding... what's to prevent your mother from enacting a similar strategy with *you*? You may need to establish a "don't f* with me OR ELSE" policy early on with this woman; better you make the rules than she does. Tell your father immediately.
