You'd be surprise just how many guys it isn't obvious to, as demonstrated to me in sex ed class. Some will try to roll it on the wrong way, forget to leave room in the tip, etc., even though there are pretty clear insttructions right on the box. Many people aren't as smart as most would like to give them credit for. I wouldn't look at it as the OP's mom giving them permission as I would her just wanting to make sure they know for whenever it happens. They'll have sex when they want, however far into the relationship they are. OP, that's definitely embarrassing, but it does show that your mom cares about you.
