Today, my mother won't let me intern at a prestigious college, working with graduate students and professors, and being paid, because she doesn't want to drive me. FML

Great opportunity to get your license perhaps?

Is there no other way to get there? Perhaps a bus, or bike, if not too far? There has to be a way no?

Can't you get a friend to drive you? That could be an easy fix.

Try to find someone who goes there too and rent a place?

If you're young enough she can forbid it, you'll have to wait until you're not a minor anymore. Otherwise it's not up to her, it's up to you. If you're old enough it's not up to her, than you're old enough to find alternatives to expecting a parent to remain on call as a taxi. Maybe this is your first real test of adulthood. I hope you ace it. If you do, you'll value the resourcefulness you learn more than the taxi service anyway.

I assume since OP got a job as an Intern at a college they're at least 18.

Time to be an adult. Figure out a way to get there. Public transit, car pool with someone in exchange for something else? You can do it OP

Maybe ask some of the people who work there where they live and see if you can carpool there! Good Luck.

Find another way. This will look good on your resume not to mention such a great experience.
