Please, if you don't fully understand the topic of rape, just take a minute to educate yourself about it. Sites like this are good resources for understanding rape a little bit more : http://www.rainn.org/ (A national resource for the US) Just a few brief facts/thoughts: 1) Rape is not about sex, rape is about control. 2) ANYONE can be raped, though statistically speaking it happens to women more often. 3) Most men are NOT rapists - in the US it's only about 5% of men who actually commit rape, this means there are a good deal of repeat offenders. Yes, women can be rapists, too! 4) Most rapes are committed by someone the victim knows and trusts - the news sensationalizes "stranger" rape and doesn't report rape that occurs most often thereby creating the image that if you are raped it will be by a stranger hiding in the bushes. 5) There are many different kinds of rape. (Again, http://www.rainn.org/ is a good resource to use) 6) Yes, rape is a severely under-reported crime (at least in the states). The process is long and invasive, tiring and often fraught with shame for victims who do not have appropriate access to resources which will help them understand that what happened was not their fault. Often times, the resulting punishment for "successfully" reporting assault or rape is less than satisfactory. 7) The only way to actually *prevent* rape is for the rapist to decide to change their actions. Rape never is and never will be the fault of the victim, regardless of age, sex, race, or what you are wearing or how much you had to drink, etc. VICTIM BLAMING IS USELESS AND COUNTERPRODUCTIVE. It is a different topic altogether to discuss what anyone (particularly women) can or should do to reduce the risk of being assaulted or raped. However, in such discussions a key question MUST be: "Should anyone live their life in fear or should attention be focused more on changing the behavior of the attacker?"
Thank you And do not forget it's not only an adult thing
Yes, thanks for adding that!
Wow, that's a little brutal, don't you think?
I still do not understand this problem with "oh, my parents deleted *whatever file*". How difficult can it be to just NOT LET YOUR PARENTS ACCESS YOUR FILES! YDI for not keeping it in a password-protected file fault, on a thumb drive, or on a separate user account. And also #117, back up!
LOL fyl.. Mom's are always like that aren't they :S oh well, good luck with redoing it, pal.
I still don't understand how people can choose YDI for things people obviously don't deserve...really how does someone DESERVE to get their school report deleted? no matter what its about..it still sucks to have that happen.
Seriously, its not like they knew that their mom was gonna delete a life changing paper. I dont think normal humans think of EVERY little detail. If it was any other file, it might not of been a FML, it was the fact that it was a 50%-of-his-grade paper. If it happened before, which he didn't say, then it would be mixed.
They deserved it because if it really was important to them than they would have taken the necessary steps to ensure that it would be safe. I live by myself and no one other than me uses my computer yet I still have enough brains in my head to make back ups of everything that it important. Not only are they on my main hard drive but they are also on an external hard drive, a SD card, and stored in my email account.
Something tells me mommy had been raped in the past.
Old people, prudes and morons shouldn't use computers. Your mom qualifies as at least two.

That is terrible! I actually think it is great that you wrote your paper on that. It is something that affects people. Believe me. I know.
Your mom must be those strong religious people that believe rape and murder never occurs. Tell her to get out of her shell.
