Today, my teacher was talking about anorexia and bulimia. Midway through the lesson, she stopped and knowingly asked if I wanted to share my experiences with the class. I don't have an eating disorder, just a screwed-up metabolism. FML

Even though you don't have a disorder, that's horribly wrong of her to call you out on it in front of the whole class.

You're teacher is ignorant.. Wow. sorry OP !

people think the same of me too op. i hate it when people think Im anorexic.. We have a naturally high metabolism, can't help it.

People ask me all the time if I have an eating disorder. I assume most feel stupid after they see how much I eat. Weirdly, people only ask about anorexia, not any other eating disorders. Having a hyper-active metabolic system can be frustrating, especially if you're pregnant and need to gain a certain amount of healthy weight. It's been extremely difficult to stay over 105lbs and people who aren't in the know can often be pretty judgemental.

That's incredibly rude and unprofessional for your teacher to call you out like that, first of all It's worse that your teacher did that without even knowing the truth. Something like that should be discussed in private! She owes you a apology.

That was so unprofessional, even if you did, that was the wrong way to go about it.

Even if she knew for sure that a student had an eating disorder, that is completely unprofessional and ****** up to boot.

My P.E teacher did the exact same thing to me... I just got up and left.

My question then is how did your school react? Was your P.E. Teacher stupid enough to complain, or did your reaction knock the sense into them that it should have? I'm curious mostly because I want a better understanding of the kind of person that would do that

That is completely unprofessional of your teacher OP, even if you had suffered from an eating disorder.

Completely NOT okay. I have an eating disorder that I've been struggling with. Normally, I'm happy to share my experience, but being called out like that on assumption and with no warning....no. Even if you don't have one, that's extremely unprofessional.
