Today, the tree that my neighbors have neglected to cut down fell on my car. They claim that by law, they aren't responsible and don't have to pay for it. FML

if the tree is on there portion of the property, then they pay for it, inless there renters then its the owner/property management who puts that money in yo hand

It's their tree- they are obliged by law to pay when their property damages someone else's property. I believe the law is the same there. Take photographs of the damages, as well as a damage estimate, and serve the with court papers. :)

don't listen to your neighbors you can sue them for stuff like that, if the tree was on their property it's their responsibility

Actually it is their tree and by law they DO have to pay for it. Get a lawyer.

I don't think they actually have to pay. It's under law by "an act of god." You can take them to court and all that, but you'll lose. Hope you have good car/renters insurance.

You should switch your insurance to All State, and help save yourself from mayhem like your negligent neighbors. :)
