Today, the tree that my neighbors have neglected to cut down fell on my car. They claim that by law, they aren't responsible and don't have to pay for it. FML

Today, my neighbors threatened to sue me because a six-foot branch fell off one of my trees and into their yard, hitting nothing on the way down. FML

Today, a tree fell on our 3-month-old family car. Today, I also learned that my husband never insured it. It's probably scrap, and we still have to pay it off for the next 5 years. FML

Today, I decided to clear up some storm damage. I carefully cut a tree that was threatening to fall on my house. It fell on my neighbor's house instead. He's taking me to court for damages. FML

Today, the elderly couple next door asked me to cut down a tree in their yard. It turns out they told me to cut down the wrong tree, and I cut down the tree they got married under. They now hate me and tell me they plan to sue me for damage to property. FML

Today, I totaled my car, because I mistook the leaves blowing across the road for a child. I swerved and hit a tree. The home owner wants to sue for "harming his tree" and hospital wants to test my mental stability. FML

Today, I woke up at 4AM to the sound of lightning hitting a tree in my backyard, then that tree proceeding to hit my house. Later, my neighbor's tree fell over, which hit our fence, and they're not even home. FML

yes they are. if the tree was on their property and it's branches went over your property line then you can call the city and complain. learned this in civil engineering & architecture

umm their homeowners insurance should pay for it considering the tree was in their yard. you could also make a comprehensive claim to your auto insurance, or just take them to civil court.

You're just as much of a neglectful moron as they are if you knew there was something wrong with the tree, which your "neglected to cut down" implies, and parked under it anyway. YDI. But sue away, because that's what people do when they don't want to be responsible for their own stupidity.

You know, because trees aren't tall, and it wasn't on their neighbor's property...so there's no way it could have fallen onto OP's driveway, and thus crushed their car.
