Today, was my sixteenth birthday. I was hoping to get a car. Instead, my parents got me a 3 month membership at the gym so I can lose weight. FML

You shouldnt have expected them to give you a car. Youd be pretty lucky if you got a car and its not as if your parents are obliged to give their 16 year old a car. Take the gym membership. Be grateful

i understand wut she means.... i only read a couple of the comments but every1 seems against her.. it isnt the present...every time my mom tells me i need to lose weight .. i always lose all my self esteem all over again... wen im at school i feel pretty and am happy with lots of friends.. i go home i feel fat and dont even feel like im worthy of friends... ive been loosing weight and my mom never sees it.... she just sees me eating a cookie here and there... and all the ppl saying shes disrespectful.. i dont see it... she was just saying its wut she was expecting im pretty sure a lot of kids expect it at one pt and only a lucky few get a car and i guess the other ones just hold it as a grudge against their parents that they have to buy their own car

Anyone who is fat, deserves being fat - with all its consequences - considering they made themselves fat. Therefore, all FMLs based on OP's weight are an automatic YDI from me. The only exceptions are if OP is overweight as a result of either a medical condition, or force-feeding. Either way, there's absolutely nothing to "deserve" here; your life doesn't suck because you didn't get a car on your 16th birthday. Get over it.
