Today, was my sixteenth birthday. I was hoping to get a car. Instead, my parents got me a 3 month membership at the gym so I can lose weight. FML

Well I don't have a car, OR membership to a gym, and I'm eighteen. I'd be happy with either.

You shouldnt have expected them to give you a car. Youd be pretty lucky if you got a car and its not as if your parents are obliged to give their 16 year old a car. Take the gym membership. Be grateful

Hell, I'd love a free gym membership! I'm in shape and like staying that way, but I hate having to pay for the gym myself. :|

Get some exercise, it'll be fun and you'll be happier

dude youre 16!! you dont need a car! your parents shouldnt have to buy you one either! i wish my parents would give me a gym membership. you gotta learn to appreciate. and i totally agree with crazysaiko...

yeah what the hell?!?!?! WHO expects a CAR for their BIRTHDAY?!!?! WTF kind of world do you live in where people GIVE you CARS!?!!? Good lord, go out and get a job. Hate people that think others should give them things.

HA your parents did the right thing! They don't OWE you a car! Get a job! Happy Birthday honey try getting a job you're old enough! Maybe it will show you a lesson that NOTHING in life is free! Welcome to the world of adulthood! In 2 more years you're screwed!

youre sixteen, please. i dont see this as a FML. Did your parents say they got you the gym membership specifically so you could lose weight? Either way, it's a great gift.

Your health is way more important than a car. Therefore, you deserve this.

Don't listen to these people... That's downright mean. For my birthday, I got proactiv... then was told I was unappreciative when I said it offended me.

that's not bad at all. at least you got something, i didn't get a car when i was sixteen either. plus gym memberships aren't even cheap...i love the gym!

What would be ironic is if your gym was a really long way away from your house... ...but yeah, no one really gets a car when they're 16. I mean a gym membership is a lot less fun than some gifts could be, but it still is pretty nice, although a little off-center to use it to pressure you to lose weight unless you explicitly told them you wish you could.
