Who wants to bet that if the original poster hadn't mentioned the "hoping for a car" part, nobody would be getting all up in arms about this? Besides, this is just disgusting...you have nothing better to do than call a teenage girl fat over the Internet? Seriously?
Burn Not much else I can say to that
I am also go with a big 'good on ya!' to your parents! obviously they recognize that a car would not benefit you, where as a gym membership will actually enhance your well-being.
Why are you complaining? You don't need a car when you can't get chicks anyways. Your parents just gave you the opportunity to do something good for yourself and saved money! Y(our)L(ife)I(s)AW(in) = YLIAW! : P
F this. I didnt even get a CELLPHONE on my 18th birthday!! and i didnt even think about "HOPING" to get a car on my 16th birthday i did hope for a cellphone though but yea and AT #47 i see your pt but i was raised in a upper middle class area and i went a private school and lots of girls got thier car at 16 and 17. I wished i had one but i never hoped for one cuz why? well 1. i knew i didnt need it 2. insurance will cost like a MOFO just cuz almost everyone else had a car didnt meant i had to get one too. thats BS!! and who's gonna pay for all the stuff for you car like gas? or other frilly thigns you want in your car? I sure hope you dont mean your parents. A car is an expensive and valuable item. from what i can tell from your story you may not be mature enough to hand a car. if it was bought for you, you might not value it or might take it for granted. like getting into accidents or geting dents. I know spoiled girls whose parents bought them a new car after totalling it almost 1-3 times. if you want a car, Get a job, save up, work for it. the whole gym membership thing. Appreciate it. My parents said i was fat back in middle school and i was sad, so i joined a Cross Country team.. WAY CHEAPER than some gym membership, which is not cheap. So your parents spent quite a bit instead if you CARED about your health or weight, you could just go running or join a sport. Think abotu this.. Your parents could have instead bought you a pair of RUNNING SHOES... come to think of it... i would love running shoes more than a gym membership.. but thats cuz i love running now.

Well I don't have a car, OR membership to a gym, and I'm eighteen. I'd be happy with either.
You shouldnt have expected them to give you a car. Youd be pretty lucky if you got a car and its not as if your parents are obliged to give their 16 year old a car. Take the gym membership. Be grateful
