Today, was my sixteenth birthday. I was hoping to get a car. Instead, my parents got me a 3 month membership at the gym so I can lose weight. FML

Well I don't have a car, OR membership to a gym, and I'm eighteen. I'd be happy with either.

You shouldnt have expected them to give you a car. Youd be pretty lucky if you got a car and its not as if your parents are obliged to give their 16 year old a car. Take the gym membership. Be grateful

You shouldn't even get a car at your sixteenth birthday. Quit acting like such a princess (assuming you're a girl). You deserved it. Go lose some weight, and get a job to pay for your car.

You sound extremely spoiled and you should be grateful that your parents even considered buying you a gift... now get to the treadmill

we all go through disappointments in life such as not getting the things we hope and desire, however... that's life. and it's something we gotta deal with. your ideal sixteenth birthday did not turn out well in your eyes.... however take the time to appreciate that if you were "hoping" to get a car, then at least your parents have money to support the family. remember... we are going through some rough times right now with the economy. my gym membership needs to be renewed next week, and to be honest I'm not going to because I don't think I can afford it right now. consider yourself very lucky. and trust me... don't be so negative to think that your parents want you to loose weight... my friends and I were begging our parents to get us gym memberships at your age... it's a very healthy and trendy lifestyle to get into. embrace your membership! enjoy the gifts that you were lucky enough to receive.

be grateful chubs. a lot of americans arent so lucky

Anytime you can really put FML after my parents didn't buy me something you are spoiled.

My birthday was yesterday too. I at least kept my standards low enough to not expect anything but a card. Don't be so greedy. At least they got you something (that I'm sure you've been talking about getting anyway).

im so happy to see some normal people on here. Why should kids get cars at 16? Honestly. A car is something you should earn, whether with your own money or by helping out or working hard in school... and i don't mean highschool. Beside, why do parents get 16 yr olds cars. They have the highest accident rate. Im also sure the OP has no grasp on what it would cost her parents to insure a new driver, car maintenance, etc.

What? You didn't get a car at 16? Oh noes, the world is going to end! How f*cking spoiled do you have to be to believe that you're just going to get a car for your birthday? Do you know how much cars cost? What about insurance for your texting while driving, makeup wearing, spoiled ass? That won't be cheap either? How about gas? And here you are thinking "I'm gonna get THAT for my birthday!" You got what you deserve. Plus, since you didn't get a car, you can walk to the gym and shed a few more pounds. Or, you can also get a job and buy your own car, like the rest of us who aren't so myopic to realize that the world doesn't revolve around us and that we can't get what the spoiled b*tches on MTV do.

I turned 16 in July and I got two nail files and a $10 blockbuster giftcard. F YOUR life? So you didn't get a car... I guess the world is going to end now. Only about 2% of the people I know actually got a car for their 16 birthday, and that's only cuz A. their parents are rich and enjoy spoiling them rotten, or B. Because it's a piece of shit car that their parents paid about 2 cents for. A gym membership is a nice present. I would be happy with that. Actually most normal people would be happy with that! And I don't know if you checked recently, but do you know how much a car costs? So, quit watching your recorded episodes of "My Super Sweet 16" and get a ******* reality check. Becoming 16 is also about growing up, and so far you're doing a pretty shitty job at it.

good, if they bought u a car, u'd be one spoiled bitch
