Today, was my sixteenth birthday. I was hoping to get a car. Instead, my parents got me a 3 month membership at the gym so I can lose weight. FML

You shouldnt have expected them to give you a car. Youd be pretty lucky if you got a car and its not as if your parents are obliged to give their 16 year old a car. Take the gym membership. Be grateful

Depending on which gym you're going to go to, it could cost about $200! That's more than I was spent on.

Oh, boo hoo! Why should you get a car for free?? Maybe you should try walking more! And taking public transportation gives you character. Take note of this now, and it will help your entitlement complex: no one in this life owes you a damned thing. Get over it, get a job, and save up to buy your own car. Plus, gym memberships are expensive! If your parents gave you that and appear to care about your health, be grateful!

I doubt they straight-up told you that that you needed to lose weight - I'm guessing they just gave you a gym membership and you took it the wrong way. Or maybe you've been whining about being fat (whether or not you actually are) and they wanted to be nice. But regardless, gym memberships are expensive...you should be glad! And the only people who get cars on their 16th birthdays are spoiled brats...I'm 18, passed my permit AND driver's tests on the first try, and have never even gotten the slightest dent or any kind of traffic violation, and I still share a car with my mom. No sympathy from me.
