Today, while all the other marines got to fly around the island on a helicopter, I got stuck on gear guard. What was I guarding? The staff sergeant's parking spot. FML

guard that parking spot LIKE A BOSS.

SLJ, "English mother f***er... Do you speak it?"

That's quite an important duty you've got there XD Douche

grow up. ppl like him (and him) are saving u from being drafted. b thankful

that is a very serious job. what if someone decided to attempt to steal it and you weren't there?

Marine is the only service that rates a capital letter at the beginning. Respect your own service, Marine. Flying isn't that great anyway. And don't complain, USMC - U Signed the Motherfuking Contract.

US Navy SEALs warrants 7 capital letters :D contrary to popular belief, Marines AREN'T the best.

pinklady72191 4

Yes, but when it comes to writing "sailors, soldiers, or airmen", its lowercase. SEAL is not your service, you are a SEAL, but before that, you were a sailor. Lowercase.

rofflewaffle 9

Lol. Many Navy SEALs are former Marines and have the same training.

Dont be such a 'motivater' you just end up sounding like an as*hole.

pinklady72191 4

Not being a motivator, just calling out an error. What the hell is wrong with that?

d10cat 0

no one ranks with the seals that's a fact

what service were u in if u weren't than shut the **** up

Ummm I am quite fond of the Marines. My brother is a Recon soldier in Afghanistan now, but I am pretty sure he told me that the Marines are a branch of the Navy.

marines are part of the navy officaly but they don't really affiliate themselves together. and Navy SEALs arnt the only amazing sf out there. there is also Socom and sf Rangers

You guys make good points but the only SF that can match SEALs is Delta that's a fact. Rangers are more like elite infantry than SF. MARSOC is good SF but it is nor in league with SEALs and Delta YET.

100 - You are correct. MARINES = My Ass Rides In Navy Equipment, Sir!

Okay, let's nip this in the bud. For one, the USMC is under the Department of the Navy--meaning the commandant reports to the Secretary of the Navy; not a branch under the Navy. Two, comparing special forces within one's country is like comparing apples and oranges--they have different functions (e.g., counter-terrorism and recon'). So, please move on.

you sound like a bunch of rednecks discussing who is the better football team.

sorry but all navy does is take us there. when things get tough.. they leave. marines do all the hard work. we are the backbone of the military. I don't hate onthe other branches just saying.. marines are frontline. oohrah

Just wait it out... few years in, get some rank, you'll get to order your lower enlisteds to guard your spot. How do you think these guys end up doing that- it was done to them. don't sweat it though, plenty of time to fly in your first enlistment, next time it will be someone else with this FML, and you in the heli. On a side note, what'd you do get that duty? Usually you have to piss someone off first :)

i just got njpd for assault on an nco.. :/

You are a shitbag, which is why you have that special duty- you were NJP-ed therefore whether you know your specific job or not, you do fail to uphold all of the qualities that are expected of a Marine. You get Proficiency AND Conduct points quarterly- if you can do you job, that is only half of what is expected. The other half is to represent the Marine Corps honorably and assaulting an NCO is not that. The fact that you have been NJP-ed for assaulting an NCO and are still a LCPL means that you may have actually been higher, or that you should be doing shit jobs for quite a while. I'm surprised your command let you keep rank, if they did. You have no place to bitch about your punishment when it is a punishment for your bad behavior. Its better than 6 months of 7 days a week working 18 hour shifts stripping the floors one day, then rewaxing them the next. Thats what happened to one of the Marines I worked with while they processed his butt out of the Corps.

it doesn't say anonymous btw ;) it shows up that you posted it

whoa... that's not good. well, I'm suppose on some level he may had it coming. all I'm saying is boy have I known some NCO's that could be real wankers for no good reason, but that's still a shitty excuse for doing something that will make your own life and career more difficult. I know.. some of the crap they do or tell you to do or the way they treat you can just bite big balls, BUT, just keep your head down, do as your told and work on ahead. kinda don't have a choice. YOU DID volunteer to be in the military and the Marines is a pretty good branch. but you had to know what was coming, OCONUS stations, Iraq, crappy units, crappy duties. goes with the territory... just, I get this isn't the place... but speaking from my point of view, I wasn't in the military, but I am an ex-military spouse after 10 years, bad divorce because of his attitude that grew out of being so pissed at his situation in the military... many article-15's and rank drops later, he got to "I don't care" and got injured doing stupid shit. his anger at the service spread into our home as violence and it was enough, I left. he got discharged, a broken soldier who only wanted out of the service just to actually get out and find that he didn't hone his skills for the real world, had nothing to fall back on and no savings... all he wanted after that was back in. all I'm saying is, I can see how mild annoyance can right ruin your life after a while. just, please don't let it. you got a great thing going for you. MIGbill, free vocational assistance while you're in. shit knows there's no jobs for you stateside, no jobs anywhere.. sure, school as a civilian, but you'll be paying for it forever.. and if there is, I guarantee with all the extra benefits the military has you're making more than most of us could hope to make. AND, you're in Japan dude! that's freaking cool! go explore, see how other people live, find a new favorite food and beer! you probably never woulda got out of America otherwise, chance of a life time. Home will be still be there after your tour... stop moping about it and go enjoy a foreign country! seriously, so you did something stupid and now you have to accept your punishment... it's cool. it's not the end of the world.. you're young, there's time to be home later. just stop being angry about it and roll with it. you could be flipping burgers or cleaning up kids vomit in isle 3, bout to get fired or laid off any minute... Marines is way better and if you pick up some extra practical skills in the service, you could make a decent living after enlistment... employers love hiring ex service men with honorable discharges. and shoot, you're in probably the only career anyone your age can get into and hope to retire in their 40's, or go officer and make a pretty decent living at a desk- with choice pick of housing, then retire even better. that's the only thing I ever hear from people who get out early, they wish theyed stayed in. just trust me on this, if you stay pissed about everything now... it will eat you up, especially when you realize how short a piece of your life that all really was and all the opportunities you've missed being pissed off. just saying it cause I'm guess no one else has.

And there it is. Don't be a douchebag, and you get to do the cool shit too.

everyone has to be the low man on the totem pole, you will get there. thank you for your services!

ouch.. fyl. maybe they don't like you?

Take solace in the fact that you're a Marine and as such a full fledged fighting machine? And you get to fire a gun. Which is pretty bad-ass.
