Today, while at work, a customer gave me a $20 tip. I explained to him we aren't allowed to accept tips, but he insisted. When I called the manager to report it, he pocketed my tip. FML

Next time u wont report it will ya????

Because having the manager find out that you've been secretly accepting tips against strict company policy is even better then losing 20 bucks!

Why would you take it that far? You did your job by saying you couldn't accept it but if he wasn't gonna take no for an answer then just keep it. You ****** up and got what you deserve.

So, following company policy is "******* up" and having the manager not only arrogantly ignore the rules he is supposed to enforce but actually steal someone else's money is "getting what op deserves"? Can you please explain to me how this works?

Our rules our of they insist we take it. Why would you call the manager?

My old company would send plants to do this just to see if you would turn it in.. If not, they called it stealing, fired you, and called the cops

why report the costumors gernorosity you should've just thank the person and accepted it. now they probably think you're some ungrateful bitch

I'd rather a customer think I'm an ungrateful bitch then risk my job for 20 bucks. As many people have pointed out (and many more are failing to understand), that some places will automatically fire an employee if they were secretly accepting tips, which is probably why the poster was reporting it.

That's your fault. Next time, pocket the tip and shut up!
