Today, while cleaning a carpet in my house, something in it sliced my foot. I couldn't find what it was, so I went to clean the wound. 10 minutes later, I sliced my foot again on the same thing. I still can't figure out what it was. FML

I'm surprised you didn't clean the wound and give up, I mean honestly, if there's anything worse than stepping on a Lego it's getting your foot sliced.

most likely the carpet spikes holding it in place. sometimes the installer doesn't get them all flattened

There are things called tack strips under the carpet, they're more like nails though, very sharp could be those
