Today, while working security at a welfare office, I had to listen as a claimant gushed about her upcoming Caribbean cruise. I work two jobs and haven't had a vacation since 2006. FML

And she is applying for welfare?! I hate that some people are working hard to make a living for themselves in these tough times, while others are flying under the ******* radar, and cheating the system. I hope she gets turned down.

Those people piss me off! My husband came back from a deployment in Afganistan and the company he worked for found a loophole to not give him his job back and we were refused any help because I was working part time. Apparently the only ones who mainly can get help are the single moms sleeping around having way too many illigitamate kids! I do however have respect for the ones who are on the system who really nees it and deserve it and get off once they are back on their feet!!

Ugh it makes me sick, I see many many people at my ft job buy cookies, donuts, soda, etc. with their food stamps ( or EBT debit cards to make it easier for em) evwry day. And then with their cash, buy smokes and booze. I wish i could have a damn candy bar once in a while, even with a full time job, a part time job and full time school. Im proud i work my ass off and have no life to support myself, but these people fill me with hatred.

Is that even possible to work full time, go to school full time, get good grades, study, AND Work another job? Haha how are you not dead? I go to school full time and have a part time job and only have like an hour of free time to myself per day if that. Crazy!

Everyone that receives help though the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (formerly called food stamp benefits) receives them through their Electronic Benefits Card (EBT card). This not only makes it easier for the recipient to use it also makes it easier and less costly for the government to distribute and cuts back on fraud (ie. people selling their food stamps). The latter is why the government instituted the use of the EBT card. Also just an fyi not everyone who receives those benefits uses them to buy junk foods. Sorry that seems to be the majority of the people you serve.

as much as i agree with everyone that this is wrong, if s(he) is paying for the cruise themselves, i would like to say that just because you are on food stamps doesn't mean you dont deserve to eat well. so what if they buy sweets&soda&steaks. just like us theyre HUMAN and want or crave things. did you ever think maybe a child's birthday is coming up and they're giving them a birthday and making the cake? seriously people, let's all stop being nasty about what they BUY with their food stamps. and yes, i also agree thats it's bs they pull out wads of cash, while talking on their iphones with freshly manicured nails and a floor length fur coat&carry a coach purse & drive a Bentley. but let's not attack those who actually BUST THEIR ASS bit cant make ends meet

I work two jobs at about 70-85 hrs a week. McDonald's dollar menu got to a point that it was a luxury I was so broke after paying bills and tuition and you mean to tell me people that don't work and won't work have right to eat better than me?!??! No not only no but HELL ******* NO! The worst is being a cashier and watch people buy organic fruit fillet steaks lobster and crab and pay with food stamps, then seeing the moms that work two jobs and cry because they can't afford both eggs and milk. Our system is screwed people who work and can't make ends meet get denied because they make "too much money" but the people who are fully capable to work, that won't get food, money, housing, and utility assistance. I'm sorry no.

I think you missed the point. Food stamps are given to people so they won't starve, not so they can indulge their taste buds. Sure, everyone wants a good meal every now and then, but a responsible person would wait until they could afford it.

If you need food stamps you shouldn't get anything that would be considered a luxury ie candy bar soda steak crab legs just the essential things needed to live hamburger noodles things of that nature why do I pay so much in taxs from my job and you get all the bennies just saying if you need actual help that's fine but you should just get the bare necessities nothing more you want more get a better job there are jobs all over the place just no one willing to work that's all

Even cable is now called a necessity by the government, I have never had cable in my life because growing up my parents could never afford it. I worked part time from age 12 on up just to buy the stuff I wanted and needed and now work full time right out of high school when the kids of people who abuse welfare never know the meaning of work, or respect for anyone or anything.
