I'm willing to bet this had more to do with some bad experience on the guard's side than with your physical appearance.
#34 wtf. Guess that puts life in perspective, huh. Well at least you're dealing with this like a man. Which apparently you are, ha. But half the "mistaken gender" FML's are cry babies. "Boooo hoooooo, my boyfriends mom thought I was a man and he was gay," "My ex wife thought I was a woman," ETC. I like how you said" I used to think it was obvious." Maybe this security guard just isn't up to standards. But like #38 says, its probably better to ask. You don't want him trying to cop a feel if you're all man. That'd might be a good FML though haha.
I'm sure he's required to ask for legal reasons, bucko. If he's wrong even once, it's his job and potentially a costly lawsuit for his employer.
It's probably something they're required to ask. I mean...everyone is getting sued now-a-days.
Yeah, his reaction sounds like he's ordered to ask and nearly forgot to do so. It could be worse! People could be shouting "HEY ARE YOU A WOMAN OR A MAN, I CAN'T TELL" out of the windows of their cars at you when you walk down the street.
this isn't really an FML or YDI. it could be something that they ask everybody who is extra searched. there are several male to female or female to male people who may have gender re assignments or things of that nature. its just confusing
