#24: "religious dolt"? really? don't make it sound like such a bad thing... and it's not stupid to break up with someone for that reason. your belief system (or lack there of) is a huge part of who you are. and if you were ever to get married, that might be something he didn't want. ...and why were you going out with someone so f***ing stupid, anyway?
Um, what kind of an idiot doesn't know what an athiest is?
lmfao you were dating an idiot :) and even if you guys had religious differences there's so reason that he should break up with you over it. he knew you believed in a different religion, he didn't care, he finds out you don't believe in the man upstairs, and suddenly it's over? you didn't lost much. not an fml.
#38 - technically if you break up the word itself, "theism" is the belief in a deity and "a" is means without, so "atheism" is just the lack of belief in a deity - which doesn't necessarily mean someone believes that there is no God, but that there is no belief on the matter. It is generally USED as you describe it, but that isn't necessarily correct. Much of the United States population might have been grouped as Christian by birth, but are non-practicing/non-believing and should be considered as atheists by virtue of the fact that the belief plays no part in their lives/there is a lack of belief, which by the initial definition given, entails atheism.
And yes, please let's not bash other people's beliefs - whether one is atheist, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, Pagan, Sikh, Tao, Jain, Shinto, etc. it doesn't matter enough to bash someone about it. There are good in bad people in all shapes and sizes. The problem, IMHO, is not RELIGION, but people. If we weren't so arrogant, we wouldn't insist that other people are wrong and we are right and we wouldn't be fighting. And honestly, comments like #19 are so incredibly hurtful and unnecessary - even to me who is NOT a Christian. One love people, one love :)
You were with him for 6 months and you two never talked about your beliefs? Odd.

Not all christians are like that. Just an FYI for those people who tend to generalize.
