No use :/ Cutters will find other ways to self-mutilate when they're in desperate need to numb their pain.

A while back I used to self harm by burning myself. I threw away all my lighters and matches to try and stop myself, but after a while I turned to cutting. Getting rid of what she uses to self harm won't help.

#24, agreed. After my father passed and my ex boyfriend sexually assaulted me, I spun into a dark hole of depression and self harm. My friends tried taking things away but when you're in that mindset, you find ways to get around it. I found a round skipping rock once and used that. A freaking round rock. It's almost like a drug, just taking away a drug cold turkey usually won't solve the problem. You've got to actually be there for them and show them their self worth.

Not to mention taking away sharp objects wouldn't help, because something as innocent as a pencil sharpener can be turned into an object for cutting, it would make her feel like you can't trust her in anyway and she needs to be babysat.

Depression doesn't make you completely psychotic, you know. But perhaps you knew that, and are just an asshole.
