Today, I was accepted into a police academy. I called my girlfriend of 2 years, who was supportive through the process. She promptly broke up with me, stating, "You'll be really busy in the academy, and I can't marry a police officer. Its a dangerous job." She then called me selfish for "doing this to us." FML

Well I'd be kind of pissed. She's supportive but leaves you oncw you're accepted?? looks like she was looking for a loophole. hey you're a cop now. hunt her down and give her a ticket for anything! right meow!

That sucks man. Congratz though on making it in! You need to follow your dream. You will find someone to support you,no worries. Just remember, during handcuff drills, holester your sidearm,do not lay it down on the ground or on top of a car(like rookies tend to do). Best of luck!

She didn't have to break up with him... :( He's just a mall cop. Jk. Think of it this way. She was supportive because she loves you and didn't want you to have to worry about breaking up and what not. It was her decision to break up and has nothing to do with who you are, she's just scared. I'm sure she'll come around if she still loves you.

It's this dudes decision. It's not selfish. He wants to follow his dreams. And you know what... He don't need a girl that doesn't support him. Your boyfriend should dump your ass if you think following his dream is selfish. Say you wanted to do something dangerous like join the military... You're in... "hey babe... I'm in." "hey babe... We're thru because you didn't consult me on this and it's dangerous an its selfish" even though being in the military or serving as a cop PROTECTS PEOPLE. You're stupid:)

Yeah dumbass, I was obviously saying that the girl is selfish. I would never break up with my boyfriend for a career HE wants to pursue. That's just bullshit. Plus, I'm sure a cop's spouse gets great benefits as well, the only downside being the danger. So I'm not complaining too much, just worried for his safety as any girlfriend or wife would be.

It's only a dangerous job for the 1% that actually do their job. Explain to her that you'll be in the 99% that park in abandoned parking lots, watch **** and update your Facebook status every ten minutes and wait for the criminals to come to you.

63 - lol. so when a robber breaks into your house with a gun, and you call 911, do you really think they'll get there in time? every home owner should own a gun to protect themselves. when seconds matter, the police are only minutes away
