Bad omen

Today, my friend Kate and I were helping build a playground. Halfway through, a construction worker asked where we go to school. I told him we graduated and proudly held degrees in Psych. The construction worker stopped mid-dig, glanced at us sadly, and said, "Yeah, that's what my degree is in too." FML

Unless you're going beyond a four-year degree, psych is useless. This shouldn't surprise you as more psych degrees are handed out than any other concentration last time I checked.

You have to be willing to move where the job is. If you aren't willing to move, then yeah..you might end up there. I knew astrophys' and microbiologists working in an inking factory because they couldn't find jobs in the area.

Pretty much every undergrad degree is useless now. The only reason to go to college is for the college experience, or if you plan to go to grad school. If you actually plan to make money, you probably should take a different route.

Am I the only one thinking everyone criticizing the OP for "only getting a bachelor's" is slightly ridiculous, as nowhere did they specify what level of degree they have?

I'm commenting for the sheer irony contained in #60's post versus #60's username.

I'm just wondering but when you said psych maybe he though you meant like PSYCH!!!

to all those people who are putting down psych as a major and calling it easy and/or a dead end, you are aware for a phd you have to first get a BA/BS, then go to grad school for two or three years, then be an intern for two or three years, thats about 9-10 years of school, yea, sound like a breeze to committe yourself for most of your young adult life to a job which will at most pay around 70,000 and where you have ALOT of options as to what you will apply your degree to. yea, what a waste of time, i'd love to know your majors or planned majors, or majors you flunked out of, if it was psych, maybe you're just to dumb for it

I love this FML. At my college there was a running joke that a psychology degree generally doomed you. From all I've heard it seems to be true. Unless you pursue a master's I gather it's pretty hard to get a good job. Hey, look on the positive though, at least it's not a B.A. in philosophy.

Fun fact: He probably makes more money than you ever will.

YDI for being a Psych major. Construction can be very lucrative though.
