Bad omen

Today, my friend Kate and I were helping build a playground. Halfway through, a construction worker asked where we go to school. I told him we graduated and proudly held degrees in Psych. The construction worker stopped mid-dig, glanced at us sadly, and said, "Yeah, that's what my degree is in too." FML

Unless you're going beyond a four-year degree, psych is useless. This shouldn't surprise you as more psych degrees are handed out than any other concentration last time I checked.

You have to be willing to move where the job is. If you aren't willing to move, then yeah..you might end up there. I knew astrophys' and microbiologists working in an inking factory because they couldn't find jobs in the area.

thats the nature of the degree if u do psychology and u want to use the degree u need to do something onvolving erm psychology loool its not like maths or engineering its quite a specific degree, truth in the words of the builder

English is not an easy degree. I know many English majors who basically have no social lives because of school. All they do is read, write papers, analyze this, blah blah blah. Plus, the school I go to, you need AT LEAST a 3.5 out of a 4.0 scale to get into the English program. Not like my major's any harder, but still. What college level courses are ever really easy? It's true, though, Psychology is worth shit unless you have a Masters or PhD or some counseling certificate. I was a Psychology major when I first entered college and changed that after 3 months.

@ #88 - Failing out of psych = lolzzzz, people who can't handle other majors turn to psych

not gonna lie, you kinda should have known beforehand that psychology majors are pretty useless. so many people do psych that there are hardly any jobs. unless more people get ****** up, you're out of luck. maybe try to find another degree in another area of interest (:

I always thought psych was a great subject to major in.... thanks for the warning. I at least have 2 years to actually decide what to major in.

My mom has a degree in French, and guess what? Psych!! And she's never used EITHER of them. What #11 said actually has a lot of truth to it xP. Unless you want to become a psychologist or psychiatrist, why major in psych? And #82...I'm finding it hard to believe you're majoring in psych when you spelled it "psyc" twice.

Even a Ph.d. in psych doesn't guarantee you a good job anymore.
