Today, I swam in a race against all of the girls in the midwest in the hardest, longest, most grueling race you can swim. I won. Happy but so tired I could barely move, I looked up to see my time. I had been disqualified. For flinching. Before the race started. FML

How is that grounds for disqualification? And shouldn't they have told you before the race started that you were disqualified?

this actually is an fml. i'm sorry, that really sucks. don't let it weigh you down though, it'll only make you feel bad in the long run. :/

don't they say: "Please Stand," and do it again?

that blows so ******* much, really unfair. When I was 6 at my very first meet my mom was timing and I was relieved when I found out I was in her lane. When I got there there was another chick there too, I got really upset b/c I was so nervous. The official then put me in the other lane. Officials are assholes. It's not like my mom was going to cheat my time when I was 6, jerks.

That sucks, but it happens. You know that you've gone that time before, so just wait until the next meet that you're tapered for and blow that time out of the water, so to speak.

swimming rules are really weird just to let everyone know. i've been swimming for 10 years and i still don't get all of them.. haha. they change a lot too. but i still haven't heard of a dq for something that weak. i mean i've gotten away with a lot of shit that the officials didn't notice, like accidentally knicking the bottom on a flip turn or getting confused and doing the wrong kick for a split second. but anyways, that's so sad :( and #2 they typically don't tell you you have been diqualified til the end of the race :/

They would have had a false start if you flinched!! Unless it was the second time you flinched while starting!

Wow. That sucks. Hard. I would be, like, bawling my eyes out if I was you. Sorry. :(

#39 Idiot - A person of profound mental retardation having a mental age below three years and generally being unable to learn connected speech or guard against common dangers. Obviously I am typing to you, proving I am not an idiot. so **** off. On a further note. You've been Trolled.

Aw, I seriously feel for you. The EXACT same thing happened to me at a regional meet. I would've gotten first place too.

Aw! The same thing happened to me a year ago when I swam the 500. Except my dad was the official who told me I was disqualified for flinching on the start.
