His behavior has nothing to do with you OP. He has VERY low self-esteem and he needs validation that he is desirable to other people. Sorry to say he will NEVER change unless he gets help for his self-esteem/EGO issues. You should not feel bad about yourself for his actions.

Were you explicit with him that it was a monogamous relationship or did you just assume that it was. If you assumed then YDI. It's a bad thing to assume. Next time be explicit. If you actually verbally agreed in no uncertain terms that it was a monogamous relationship then he's an ass.
