Dude it wasn't a bear. If you flail around your arms an attacker would just strangle you, not scare it off.
#15, was "flail your arms and scream at the sight of a shadow and at the possibility that--gasp!--another human being is sharing a public space with you (god forbid you're not the only person, at least one with a shadow, out and about in the world)" one of the tips you had drilled into you? there's being safe. then there's being paranoid (and perhaps a bit presumptuous and self-important).
Everyone's making fun of her for flailing her arms around. It won't fend the attacker off, but if there would happen to be someone nearby, it might get their attention. And whenever I hear a scream, I always try to find the source to make sure the person is okay. Better safe than sorry! And creepy people can and do hang out in secluded walkways in parks.
You're a paranoid bitch. Do you think you own that park? Because apparently it's so weird and scary to have another person near you.
God you're stupid.
this should be "i fail at living life." not **** my life.

What the hell is with all the paranoid women? If theres a shadow behind you it doesnt automatically mean that youre about to get raped.
Who the hell waves their arms to ward off an attacker? Are you dealing with a raccoon or a mugger here?
