Healthcare scandal

By itsjustnotfair - This FML is from back in 2009 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, my dentist asked me about my fillings, so I told him that when I was younger, I had 2 cavities. He replied, "No you didn't. I just looked at your x-rays." Turns out my old dentist ripped me off. I never needed fillings. FML

that's malpractice! He could get in serious trouble for that, such as having his license revoked. I would report him. He could potentially hurt someone, not to mention scamming many people, and the healthcare system.

Now I wanna be a dentist when I grow up.

Been there, except change "fillings" to "root canal."

Good thing the new dentist couldn't tell from the x-rays all of the other drilling the old dentist had done on you while you were under. That would have been really awkward. That would explain the baby, though.

What the **** is wrong with you. The name plexico comes up often in the FML comments, and it seems he almost never has anything of value to say. As for the OP, that really sucks. I, personally, am very lucky with my teeth. I have some of the worst dental hygiene habits, I don't brush anywhere near as often as I should, and yet I have never had a cavity. If a normal person tried to pull the crap I do with their teeth, they wouldn't have any left. At least now I know to always get a second opinion even for things as minor as dental fillings. Thank you for enlightening me.

You're basically the only one who doesn't laugh hysterically at 90% of his comments. Get with the program.

Since when does humour have no value? Or are you just incapable of detecting sarcastic wit? Everyone else seems to be able. Actually, a lot of people miss plexico's humour for the first comment or two they read of his, but that's seriously two at most.

From the comments I've seen, they're usually a bit rude towards the OP. Well, everyone laughs at something. (I've laughed at some, but not a lot.)

Sometimes I'm rude to the OP, but other times I take their side when everybody else is getting on the OP's case. Other times I'll point out that the OP's complaint was actually a positive. One guy said people thought he was drunk when he was sober, and I said that's great, think of the money, calories and DWI's he's saving. I don't worry about the negative comments. I'd almost worry more if they were always positive.

To fill a cavity the dentist drills away the rotting part and replaces it with metal, and that shows up on an x-ray. That's how they cantell if you've had fillings done before. That's sick. Sue your old dentist!

No one was wondering how the new dentist knew that the OP had fillings, just how he or she knew that the OP hadn't actually had cavities that needed to be filled.

Ah of course that sucks, but it was a long time ago. I'd have just forgotten about it by now

Same scenario with me, except it was 5 fillings. Oh, and they ****** up my nerves in my gums. I win

Unnecessary root canal, during which she tore through the tendons in my jaw with the numbing needle. Dentists suck.

Someone tell me how after a cavity has been drilled out then filled one would know if it was necessary or not. Ridiculous!

By looking at the x-rays in the patients records.

This must mean the new dentist had the x-rays from before the supposed cavities were filled. We are now to believe that a dentist who commits fraud is going to hand potentially incriminating evidence over to an other dentist for review. I THINK NOT!

It was years ago, get over it

I smell a lawsuit.......unless it happened more than 5 yrs ago, then u can't bring it.

Unless the dentist did the x-ray immediately before he gave you fake filings(and why would he do that?), how would your new dentist know?
