Mother knows best

Today, I was hanging with my boyfriend. When his mom came to pick him up, he introduced me. She talked to me politely and I thought we hit it off very well. As I was walking away, I heard her say, "That's your new girlfriend? Honey, you could do so much better." FML

I don't know if you did anything "wrong". Maybe you came off as standoffish (which could be because you were nervous and didn't know her). Maybe she's just a bitch. I don't know. Let's just hope that either a) your boyfriend doesn't bow/bend to what mama thinks or b) you dump his ass (as in stop associating with him altogether) before he dumps you.

#9 - It would be "You're an asshole" actually. Go ahead and copy and paste that if you wish.

no #9 that is still quite awful, i agree with #4 you were probably a little nervous and acted accordingly i'm sure it will go better if/when you see her again?

#12 is correct, of course. Also, "..." is sufficient. It's called an ellipsis and it's only correct if there are just three (count them, 3) full stops. ".................." is excessive. And while I'm being a punctuation Nazi, there should be a question mark on the end of "is that better".

forget about her. if you guys like each and are happy that should be good enough for her if not she's a ****. but get ready for a rough time if she jus wants to be a bitch. My boyfriend's mom is the same way. ugh.

#14 - I applaud your grammar. It's much appreciated when most of the people on here don't know how to punctuate.

don't worry about it; guys' moms and female friends say that kind of stuff all the time. and i love the grammatical debate here haha let's fight over the your/you're conundrum, the usage of ellipses (that's plural, in case anyone has a problem with that), and other such things! although, the back-and-forth did lead me to change a comma into a semicolon and add a period at the end of my first sentence.

I love how everyone is discussing grammer under this FML. It just made my day to see that people are correcting grammer, it's great. Perfect even, because it seems that no one in the world is able to spell, but may i point out that no one is exactly focusing on how to spell on this web site.

you spelled "grammar" wrong.

#17 Nice comment...even though I messed up 2 times(which sucked for me), you guys still knew what i was saying... so is it really necessary.

#18 - If you read through, noticed something that you did wrong, and changed it then this debate has been worth it.
