News to me

Today, I was texting my friend. He has a history of depression, which we were talking about, and somehow, he turned the conversation to, "If we ever broke up, I would kill myself." I didn't even know we were even going out. FML

I know he's your friend but it appears he really needs professional help. Assuming that you have never discussed being a couple, it now appears that not only is he suffering from depression but he has created a whole fantasy land within his head that you are somehow going out. And that is not a good sign.

Oh wow. That's kind of intense. I'm really sorry. I hope you found a tactful way to tell him that he was mistaken... good luck.

RUN AWAY. It will only get worse. And worse. And worse.

Unfortunately, som is correct. Running away is probably your wisest option. It really will only get worse, I'm afraid.

This is one of the first FML's I've ever read that's actually an FML. To the girl who thinks this is nothing but "childish drama," good thing he doesn't think he's going out with you.

Thank goodness...he drove me crazy with guilt trips!

I always offer to buy the bullets...

That whole friend with benefits isn't working out too well huh?

if i had been a girl, i would have slapped him for that comment, then regretted it. No one should ever be put in that kind of situation.

Call the proper authorities, then 'break up' with him. There's a good chance he's just being melodramatic, but better safe than sorry.

Wow, I feel bad for both sides. You were put in a terrible situation and I was thrown into about 6 months of extreme depression (I am a refugee in Romania). Hopefully you guys fall in love or something... Maybe you'll actually like him. Good luck.

He sounds like one of those losers who threaten to kill themselves for attention.

You seem to forget he has a history of depression. Not all threats are idle ones.
