Night on the tiles

Today, I went out to celebrate my birthday with a big group of friends. After waiting in line to get into a club, the bouncer looked me up and down and said, "No fat chicks." My friends went into the club without me and left me to take a $100 taxi home alone. FML

i'm sorry, that really sucks. you could do without friends like that..

I'm so sorry. Unless you're drastically overweight, that's terrible, and totally not your fault.

Personally I think that's ******* disgusting. What next, they don't let people into clubs because say, their breasts are too small/big? For being too thin? Because the bouncer doesn't like the colour of their eyes, or the colour of their skin? It's complete discrimination, and it's horrible. You going into that club wouldn't have been a health risk or been offensive to anybody, so I don't see why they should have the right to refuse you entry.

She might accidentally sit on someone and kill them :(

Jasnoo you are a prick. Even if she is terribly obese dancing is a form of exercise. Also it was her birthday, no one, no matter what, deserves to be ditched by their friends. I have been to places that have told me I couldn't go in because I was too young, or they were booked, and my friends said "lets go somewhere else." Even if it had been the ******* only time they could go, there comes a time when its friends before getting drunk.

Wtf??Color of the eyes, skin color, are thing you CANNOT chage whi you can just damn excercise. So, your argument is invalid

And because I knew I'd get responses like yours is exactly why I also said 'for being too thin', which you conveniently ignored. You can temporarily change the appearance of your eyes and skin. What if a club decided that they didn't like blue eyes, so anybody with blue eyes had to put in green or brown coloured contact lenses if they wanted to go in? Or what if they decided that somebody's skin was too pale, and they didn't like that, so the person had to go and get a tan before they entered? Or say they didn't like somebody's natural dark brown hair, and told them to go and bleach it before they were allowed in, because they think dark brown hair isn't aesthetically pleasing? They would be completely ridiculous rules, and I think that telling somebody they need to lose weight before entering the club is a similarly ridiculous rule. I don't believe that somebody should have to alter their appearance purely to fit somebody else's ideals of what beauty is. If she had a tattoo of the word '****' on her forehead or something, I could understand that, because it would be potentially offensive. But being fat isn't offensive, and if somebody gets offended by somebody being overweight, that's just plain pathetic.

Go clockwork!! I made this point in a previous FML and its refreshing that most of the people responding to this one aren't retarded jerks :) Mastapiece is also totally right it's called a set-point and its very difficult to maintain a weight below your set point. That's why 95% of people who diet gain back the weight they lose (and often more) in a couple of years.

It actually makes me a bit physically ill that people can hold the belief that appearance is the only important thing and that those with an "unacceptable" appearance should be treated as lesser humans or, even worse, less than human. In addition, that kind of view point is definitely not one I would expect from a fellow Australian. This is supposed to be the kind of place where people are treated equally no matter what :(

u sure these ppl are really ur friends?

Wait, this is actually surprising to anyone? Clubs are like the cesspool of humanity filled with the most unoriginal sounding people. They need to keep their appearance so of course you got denied. Find something better to do on your birthday.

Dang I'm kinda overweight myself and I still get into the club. You have to b pretty damn fat for them not to let you in, unless it's a Hollywood club... which they dnt have in australia

I'm with #38... and get some better friends that might leave the club and hang with you somewhere else.

Yeah, I'm with 38 and 42. Get some friends your own weight and hang out at the Pie Shoppe!

Right of admission reserved. If you want to get into Cambridge, you need excellent academics. If you want to get into those kinds of clubs, you need to have a decent figure. Don't start whining and feeling sorry for yourself if they have a policy.

And what exactly is considered a "decent" figure? Some people are attracted to heavier girls/guys, you know. Just because its not what YOU find personally attractive does not mean everyone else the same way. Im a female and personally enjoy a bit more meat on my guy's bones. Sure, skinny guys are attractive and all, because its not the weight, its the way you carry yourself, but Id like to be able to choose from an array of all sizes when I go clubbing, thanks.

Maybe the owner of the club told the bouncer to not let in any fatties. Maybe the bouncer thought it up himself. Either way, it wasn't any random persons opinion on what is attractive that mattered. So yeah, some people may find fat attractive, but no such people had a say in this incident, so their opinion doesn't really matter in this case.

Rather than be all prissy and stay away from having fun at the club, why not set a goal to lose some weight and try again? You will be happier and healthier.

why the **** should she.. there's nothing wrong with her having some extra weight on her. She can still look good and be sexy. The bouncer was fucktard and her so called friends need the boot.

That really blows to find out you've got no friends on your birthday.
