I was going to say what number 10 said too. Im not a paralegal but this seems fishy. IM not saying i dont believe this person but the way most companies run, a raise is discussed and has to be worked inot the budget. They don't pull people into offices during review time to tell them they are getting a raise if they are getting fired. Something just feels off? Whether its the OP or the office she worked at
#5: Definitely, but they count on the fact that people won't because it's costly, time-consuming and risky (not enough evidence etc...) :-( I'd try to get your supervisor to write down the report he gave you, but I'm afraid there isn't much else you can do. Sorry :-(
I agree with 10. They seem to know their stuff. Failing all else, just call a lawyer and see where you should go from there.
Lawyers are vultures... but useful ones. Clear case of wrongful termination.
That totally happened to me too. I had never missed a day actually. They called my mother's residence the night before instead of mine to tell me my contract had been terminated. So I arrive at work, not knowing anything to find out my pin card doesn't work. HR pulls me into her office and says I was fired for my attendance record. I was like "I have never missed a day in the 3 years I have worked here". She said to bring it up with headquarters. So I did. They said they would submit my grievance and get back to me. They never got back to me. Turns out though that PA doesnt even need a reason to fire you. They can do it whenever for no reason at all. They just decided to be assholes about it and lie to my face. But it you work in a state that is not "at will", which i think there are 10 or so states then you can sue. But otherwise you are sol.
I would DEFINITELY fight this. This kind of BS should be punished in our society, not brushed under the rug. Sue for wrongful termination, that jerk (supervisor's supervisor) needs to know that this kind of thing is not right.
wow what a bitch

wtf i just got laid off.... i think they needed an excuse to fire you, not lay you off so they would have to actually pay you severance or unemployment...why else would they fire you for something lame as that
i would ask what was wrong with my attendance?
