While I agree that he should go to the doctor to get it checked out, in the meantime here's a way to keep a nosebleed from happening (or at least extremely reduce its severity): The artery that leads to the nose first passes through the upper lip, so by applying gentle pressure to the upper lip you can reduce blood pressure in the nose. To accomplish this he should take a small piece of tissue or toilet paper, wad it up, and place it behind his upper lip. It should be barely noticeable, and will stay in place on its own (unless he has a really bizarre O face).
